3 REASONS SHEA BUTTER IS AWESOME FOR YOUR SKIN

shea butter

1. IT IS ANTI-AGING

Shea butter is high in Vitamins A and E. These are antioxidants that protect the skin from free radical damage. Vitamin A protects the skin from free radical damage and has been known to reduce signs of photoaging. It fortifies the skin cells against UV induced free radical damage. AKA sun damage. This also helps reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation such as sun spots, stretch marks, and scars. It is also a humectant that draws moisture to the skin, thus reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E also protects the skin from free radicals as well as repairs damaged skin cells. Vitamin E protects the skin from UV induced free radical damage by absorbing UV rays before they harm the skin. It also lubricates cell membranes and encourages cell regeneration. This helps repair damaged tissue such as hyperpigmentation and scars and also smooths and softens the skin. This is what gives shea butter its ability to both heal and protect the skin from damage; giving the skin a more youthful appearance.

2. IT SMOOTHS AND PLUMPS THE SKIN

Shea butter is very high in oleic, stearic, palmitic, and linoleic acids fatty that protects, rejuvenate, and nourish the skin. These acids penetrate the skin and aid in collagen production. They are also high moisturizing and help to soften dry, rough cracked skin. Because the fatty acids can penetrate deep into the skin it helps improve the skin's ability to retain moisture, improving your skin's natural barrier and helps to protect your skin from the elements.

3. IT REDUCES INFLAMMATION

Shea butter contains a natural anti-inflammatory agent, cinnamic acid. This is a similar agent found in household cinnamon you may add to your cookies or coffee. This anti-inflammatory agent is the reason why shea butter can soothe irritated skin causing relief from skin conditions such as acne, stretch marks, and diaper rash. Some have even reported relief from chronic conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, and rosacea.

Although there are many more benefits of using shea butter these were my favorite. Shea butter has been used in beauty regimens for centuries. It is was even rumored to have been Cleopatra's beauty secret! Check out a great body butter containing shea butter here!
